Incubator - Design Thinking Program

Program Overview The Incubator’s intensive 1-week Design Thinking program was a dynamic, immersive experience of online workshops facilitated by our Expert in Residence. Students worked in multidisciplinary teams to explore design thinking as a new way of working towards solving real-world problems and imagining an alternative future. Peer-to-peer insights, mentoring and instruction enabled a transformational 30-hour journey, delivering a practical experience with design thinking tools, concepts, and strategies to create a tangible social innovation. Learning Outcomes • understand social innovation and how to make a difference • connect with the creative-self and flex design thinking muscles • use empathy to solve problems in meaningful ways • frame specific opportunities based on user needs and insights • think creatively to generate new solutions • rapid prototyping to think and learn from fast failures • create the right environment to practice innovation on an everyday basis • clearly define challenges to ensure they are engaging and will excite and align teams • apply a full design thinking cycle for any project • how to communicate ideas and solutions to others Delivery details: intensive one-week program consisting of 5 workshops, 2 webinars, team activities, and a pitching session. Assessment: Students will be assessed on a group pitch pulled together using the new skills learnt throughout the week-long course. Activities: group work, group initiatives, shared reflections, and applying design thinking techniques to explore the problem of waste to rethink and design an alternative future. Volume of Learning is 30 hours.
