The MQBS Financial Markets Certificate program is delivered by Macquarie Business School in collaboration with the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA). Successful completion of the program provides a key milestone for accreditation by AFMA for financial markets professionals. The program also provides partial credit towards Macquarie Business School’s Graduate Certificate of Finance and, by extension, the Master of Applied Finance (subject to additional entry requirements).
Financial Markets Transactions is the second core micro-credential of the MQBS Financial Markets Certificate program that provides an overview of the financial products traded in financial markets. It introduces financial market sectors, participants, and the economic environment, and examines key features of products, who uses them, and how and why they are used. With these products in mind, it explores the deal lifecycle of a financial transaction to gain an appreciation of how to execute transactions and to recognise that institutions have their own specific requirements.
This core micro-credential overlays the lens of regulatory frameworks across the deal lifecycle covering the ongoing requirements that govern how market participants should conduct themselves by answering the question of “What is the right thing to do?”. Key Topics include:
• Financial Markets Products
• The Deal Lifecycle
• The Regulatory Environment.
Participants demonstrated the following Financial Markets Transactions learning outcomes and skills by completing the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) challenge test:
• LO1: Explain financial markets products, the regulatory environment, transaction processes and management in Australia

• LO3: Research, develop and present a report including a detailed response to a participant's specific requirements relating to financial market products, processes, and regulation
• LO4: Evaluate and apply the professional and industry codes of conduct.
