Description
This is the second of two foundational microcredentials underpinning lymphoedema management and focuses on the contemporary evidence. In this microcredential, you will review the latest research underpinning comprehensive assessment and treatment of lymphoedema. You will develop an understanding of the importance of a prospective surveillance model of care and early intervention to prevent and/or manage lymphoedema. Advances in assessment including use of bioimpedance spectroscopy and indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography will be explored with a focus on how the information is used to enhance intervention. You will also have the opportunity to analyse the organisation and structure of a service providing comprehensive care and integrating education and research. This microcredential will contribute to your development of the Scientist and Scholar, Clinical Practitioner and Engaged Global Citizen graduate capabilities.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes are aligned to the graduate capabilities.
Explain the revised anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system and teachings from ICG lymphography (Scientist and Scholar)
Describe the prospective surveillance and early intervention model of care in cancer rehabilitation and explain how this can be integrated into healthcare settings (Scientist and Scholar)
Apply the latest evidence to develop a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan for a person at risk of or living with lymphoedema and chronic oedemas (Clinical Practitioner)
Discuss individual and societal impact of lymphoedema and chronic oedema models of care (Engaged Global Citizen)
