This microcredential introduces participants to a range of valuation engagements. This is underpinned by an overview of Australian and international standards, together with regulations that apply to valuations in Australia.
This microcredential will equip you to value portfolio and controlling interests in public and private companies and other enterprises. The specific nuances of performing valuations for mergers and acquisitions vs independent expert's reports vs financial reporting vs taxation purposes are examined. The most common circumstances that give rise to the need for a valuation will be examined and as well as what is involved in giving expert evidence in court. Finally, contemporary issues in valuations will be reviewed before completing the final assessment presentations.
The objective of this microcredential aims to build on valuation skills and knowledge which have been consolidated through industry experience. This will be achieved through the presentation of relevant theoretical information complemented by participant discussions and analysis of case studies that represent real-life scenarios.
Upon successful completion of this unit, participants will be able to:
• explain the theory and practice behind valuation models used in valuing private and public companies and other enterprises
• assess the applicability and impact of the regulatory and legal environment for undertaking valuations in Australia
• critically evaluate specific valuation issues in a range of professional contexts
• prepare and effectively communicate recommendations concerning a valuation assignment.
Delivery Details
• This micro-credential is delivered over 8 weeks, capped with a final case presentation assessment.
• Participants are required to complete weekly quizzes and attend at least 5 out of the 6 live case webinars.
• Participants are required to submit a PowerPoint presentation and each present a 5-minute segment in groups. Participants are graded on their ability to address the case question and demonstrate conceptual knowledge, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Volume of learning is 40 hours.
