Macquarie Global Leadership Program - Postgraduate

Macquarie University’s multi-award winning Postgraduate Global Leadership Program (GLP) is a free, self-paced, co-curricular program, providing postgraduate students with the skills they need to become responsible global citizens alongside diverse leaders from a range of academic disciplines. Students attend expert-led Think Tanks on major international issues and professional skills and undertake a self-directed, experiential learning activity. Upon completion, students’ success is noted on the Macquarie University academic transcript and the Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS). GLP graduates have the skills, experience, and knowledge they need to be confident global leaders. Throughout their journeys with the GLP program, students develop their skills in the following areas: 1. Self-management: Ability to control feelings, behaviours and reactions, thereby regulating one’s emotions, to enhance well-being. 2. Critical Thinking: The process of gathering, analysing, synthesising and interpreting information to form new or revised ideas or thinking about information. 3. Ethical Reasoning: The ability to formulate a responsible, fair and just assessment of a situation or issue without undue bias. 4. Professional Identity and Behaviour: Commitment to, demonstration of, and accountability for the appropriate actions, attitudes, conduct and integrity corresponding to a given professional circumstance or environment. Program Requirement 1: Students complete six Think Tanks totalling 15 hours of virtual/in-person learning. Program Requirement 2: Students choose and complete an experiential learning activity focusing on the main programmatic themes: international, cross-cultural, leadership, innovation or entrepreneurship. Potential activities range from sustainability challenges, professional internships or community volunteering, to name a few.
