Help! I'm teaching Legal Studies for the first time
Description
This microcredential will provide a comprehensive overview of the Legal Studies syllabus for secondary teachers new to teaching this subject. Through this learning journey, participants will gain an understanding of the scope of content covered as well as an appreciation of how to manage the timing of topic delivery; how to locate useful resources and case studies to bring Legal Studies alive for students; the importance of building student literacy capacity so that they are able to communicate their understanding of legal concepts; and how to design and mark assessment tasks, including formative assessments. At the end of this microcredential, participants will be able to reflect on and implement a range of engaging and relevant activities within the classroom which have a high impact on students’ learning.

Learning Design
Delivery: This microcredential is delivered as an online, asynchronous learning course.
Volume of Learning: 25 hours.
Learning Activities: Self-Directed Online Learning, recorded lecture, flipped content delivery, personal experimentation, interactive tasks, summaries, and reflections.
Successful completion of this microcredential enables teachers to self-identify 25 hours of professional development for their NESA accreditation. Macquarie University is a NESA-recognised professional learning provider.
